New York City based wedding film photographer who also calls Virginia home.

Artist Statement:

I have no buzzwords or fancy website copy to convince you to hire me. I’m just a human above all else, and running this photography business is more like throwing my wedding work into the universe and seeing what couples resonate enough to boomerang back. I often feel like the wedding photographer for couples who don’t really want a wedding photographer, they just want an honest representation of their day for the keepsakes. My photographs are guided by a gut feeling, and my expertise is in paying attention. My timing needs to be in perfect unison with the moment and the light.

I am an introvert so my approach to photographs tends to be gentler and quieter than most; but I’m a risk taker through and through with my shots while still doing my best to read a room and know when to step back and give a moment dignity and privacy. I always leave space for the grief that can still be present at your wedding, despite the joy.

My approach is true documentary which can be a confusing adjective these days; I’m happy to work with family formal lists and guide you when you feel uncomfortable but I don’t like to go into a wedding with expectations riding on any one shot. I’m still a sucker for a classic portrait but I love to experiment with my film cameras which can often create unexpected and more honest photographs for my couples. True-to-life colors and a tight curation are my priorities when delivering a final product & most importantly, I never walk into a wedding day with my own expectations; it’s your day.

More than anything, I work best with couples willing to do a trust fall. I’ve got this.

“Aly was, without hyperbole, the dream wedding photographer. She is truly an expert with a level of artistry that we didn’t associate with wedding photos before her.”
